Although Saint Patrick's Day was a couple of days after his birthday, Rubix was excited for his fun day of activities. He wore the shirt Daddy got him from Ireland (when he went for business in 2019), played shamrock bingo, learned about what rainbows are and then made a rainbow out of mixing warm water with Skittles.
Phoenix started the day with a fun movement Leoparcan activity too.
Daddy dressed in green too and took a picture with the little guy!
On Monday the 15th, Rubix had a typical day of school and play with mommy, but also enjoyed a Zoom call with Gma Sonia and Gpa Bruce, a visit to the doctor, and the last piece of birthday cake with ice cream!
Rubix and I flew his kite while Daddy ran around the track and Phoenix and Axel were finishing up school at home.
At lunch time, Axel could not wait to give Rubix his gift. He purchased two Pokemon packs for Rubix and Rubix was ecstatic!
At the doctors, we learned that Rubix is 46 inches tall and weighs 45 lbs. He has great hearing, and he passed his vision test, but his left eye takes some time to focus.
Rubix was excited to remember the fish tank and say hello to the fish!
Rubix's teacher was kind enough to have Rubix see his classmates and sing him Happy Birthday.
The birthday boy requested chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast!
On Sunday, we ordered a jump house and invited the Jolleys over. We were so excited to see cousins and family for the first time. They came at 11:30 in the morning and jumped until they left at 3pm! Daddy surprised Rubix and also invited Lilly over. As the Jolleys were leaving at 3pm, Lily showed up with her mom, Eileen.
Rubix played until 6pm non stop with Lily! They shot baskets, jumped, climbed the slide and slid down the slide! It was an unbelievable day of activity for Rubix and the Szolusha family.
The cousins playing in the driveway before heading home.
Cousin fun!
Birthday boy!
The other birthday boy receiving his awesome gift from Gma Susan, delivered by Auntie Shannon.
Pokemon fun!
Yummy grilled food!
Pikachu birthday cake!
Happy birthday Rubix!
Us teasing him that he is going to have to blow out his candles with his mask on.
Jumpy house arrived at 8:45 am and jumping started at 9 am until Axel's math competition started at 10. That's right, Axel did his first math invitational. He was invited to be on the competitive team and to participate individually. He wasn't super excited at how he did, but the team competition went better than the individual competition for him. We will have to wait to see how he scored, despite not finishing over half of the test. He was really bummed, but we all have good and bad days.
The kids continue to do well in school. All three kids are thriving despite the circumstances. Luckily, they are working with us on the weekends and evenings to follow through on content that is "taught" in school. We are so lucky that they are open to doing more and enjoying the process of learning.
Axel started going to school on Tuesdays for the past month because he was caught too many times doing other things then paying attention in History and Science class. There is a whomping 13 kids who attend on Tuesdays, including all 3 grades in the middle school. They monitor the kids screens during class, but they allow them to play games during breaks, which is such a bummer because it would be nice if they had time to socialize.
We find out tomorrow if Rubix gets into Harker. Apparently, there are plans for Phoenix to return to school on April 19th full time and Axel to return to school on Mondays starting April 19th. Rubix is on a wait list for in person at Challenger.
We are gearing up for Spring Break in Tahoe, Axel's 12th birthday and Easter! Check back after Easter for more Szolusha fun!
