What an exciting night. Axel did great for his first Pinewood Derby. We are so proud of him. All of the hard work paid off. The hours of research, looking at videos, going to the Cub Scouts of America store multiple times lead to a great finish. Axel finished 2nd overall in his pack and 1st in his den.
Here is Axel with all of the cars that raced tonight. It was a bummer that more kids did not participate, but it was fun regardless.
This was one of 6 heats. He won 4 and got 2nd twice.

And there it is. The results. It was a close call between second and third, but he won 2nd by a couple of tenths of a second. This was even more exciting because the 1st and 3rd place finishers were older Webelos.

You can see that the other kids were older just by looking at the picture below that includes the top three finishers for speed and the two who won best design and most creative design. We are excited to go to districts on February 11th.
Here is a cute picture of Louis in the kids tunnel. This is where I found him after putting Rubix to sleep when I got home tonight from the Pinewood Derby. Poor old man!
